Pioneering Effort Sets Standard for European Telecommunications Companies
San Francisco, California, March 9, 2012 – AppDirect, the leading cloud services marketplace and management platform, announced today that it is providing the solution for Deutsche Telekom’s new Business Marketplace. With the Business Marketplace, Deutsche Telekom, one of the world’s leading telecommunications company, is able to deliver highly relevant, secure cloud applications and services to SMB customers.
The Business Marketplace not only gives SMBs the opportunity to connect with application developers, but also offers Deutsche Telekom customers an integrated, easy-to-use platform to find, buy and manage cloud-based applications and services.
“With the Business Marketplace, Deutsche Telekom has set the standard for innovation,” said Daniel Saks, President and Co-CEO of AppDirect. “The Business Marketplace is now one of the most sophisticated cloud services marketplace implementations in the world. ”
As a white label cloud services marketplace (CSM) provider, AppDirect enables Deutsche Telekom to offer a branded and customized marketplace to its customers. The Business Marketplace is deployed within a secure infrastructure housed in Deutsche Telekom’s European data centers, setting it apart from other CSMs. With local hosting and best-in-class service level agreements (SLAs) that guarantee high quality and performance, the AppDirect-powered Business Marketplace represents a milestone for the global Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) industry. Full commercial launch of the Business Marketplace is expected in summer 2012.
To ensure that its customers have access to the latest, most relevant software, Deutsche Telekom is utilizing the AppDirect Developer Portal to enable regional software providers and developers to create and curate a set of localized applications and services. These applications can help SMBs manage operations—from accounting, to human resources, to communications, and more—with far greater ease and effectiveness.
“With the Business Marketplace, we offer small and medium-sized businesses low cost software products that are easy to find, try and buy. Deutsche Telekom also ensures that customer data and privacy is protected by hosting all software in house and offering end-to-end support for all products, from initial purchase with ‘single-sign-on’ right through to single billing,” said Phil Zamani, Senior Vice President, Cloud Services, at Deutsche Telekom AG.
Using AppDirect Marketplace Manager, Deutsche Telekom can also administer the entire Business Marketplace ecosystem, including product catalogs, customer service, marketing, and billing, with one integrated, back-end system. This creates a seamless experience for Deutsche Telekom, software partners and its customers.
“From the start of this project, we’ve been thoroughly impressed with the professionalism of the AppDirect team and the high caliber of its technology,” said Phil Zamani. “This was a large project, delivered in a very short space of time and we are very happy with the end product.”
With its Deutsche Telekom partnership, AppDirect has added to its growing list of leading telecommunications partners—including Bell Canada and SaskTel—and extends the reach of its network to additional SMB users around the world. With its experience and expertise in cloud-based application delivery, AppDirect continues to enable telecommunications companies to deploy cloud services marketplaces successfully.
